28 JUNE 1919 - 28 JUNE 2019: 100 YEARS OF OMR

28 June 2019

The OMR Group (Officine Meccaniche Rezzatesi) is one hundred years old. Exactly a century ago, today 28 June 2019, the King of Italy authorized the establishment of the company. From that moment on, the Tirini Brothers, one of which was Marco and Franco Bonometti's maternal grandfather, began producing marble processing machines in Rezzato (BS), then moving to textile machinery and engaging in the manufacture of military armaments during the Second World War.

In 1950 the company took the name OMR (Officine Meccaniche Rezzatesi), starting a development parallel to that of the OM, today Iveco, then the largest plant in the province of Brescia, which was the cradle of Brescia mechanics and future new entrepreneurs who had taken the first steps in OM. They were the seasons of the economic boom, of mass motorization, but also of the companies that were born with the drill or the lathe in the dining rooms or in the cellar because there were no resources to rent premises in which to give birth to the company.

"It is in that climate of enthusiasm, ideas and great energies that OMR decided to exploit its ability in mechanical construction - explains Marco Bonometti, President of the group and today at the helm of Confindustria Lombardia - to move towards the production of components for industrial vehicles , also thanks to an important client which was already the Fiat group, today FCA ”.

These were the years of widespread contracting, known today as out sourcing, which was the lymphatic system of the economy of Brescia of small and medium enterprises.

"In the seventies - says Marco Bonometti - we began a path of growth that has led our company, today with a turnover of over 770 million and 3600 employees, to become a multinational group in the sector of components for motor vehicles and other means of transport" .

The evolution has then continued and - adds the president of OMR Marco Bonometti - "we have moved to the production of a wide range of products, characterized by aluminum frames and" assemblies and systems "for engine components and car suspensions, motorcycles , industrial vehicles and earth-moving machines ”.

Today OMR is the third generation in the company since 1977, and the fourth generation is also present. It has always been a privately company 100% owned by the Bonometti family. It produces more and more technological components as requested by the largest world groups of car and industrial vehicle manufacturers, combining innovation, research, quality and performance, distinctive characteristics of Made in Italy. To achieve these results, OMR had to internationalize and grow, while maintaining its headquarters and research / development at its headquarters in Italy. Abroad it is present in India, China, Morocco, United States, Brazil. In Italy in Rezzato, Pavone del Mella, Modena, Atessa, San Felice sul Panaro, Rovereto, Cazzago San Martino, Tigliole d'Asti, as well as holdings in Hpe Coxa and Lab-Id.

Anticipating the celebrations and events that will take place from now until the end of the year, the Group Management wanted to thank the collaborators through a letter sent to all the factories in the world.
